Introducing Trailblazers

At Rising Together CIC, we believe in the transformative power of outdoor adventures to build confidence and empowerment in South Asian women and girls. Our organisation organises outdoor activities and expeditions specifically designed for women who may not typically engage in such activities.

By stepping out of their comfort zones, participants gain newfound confidence, develop resilience, and learn valuable life skills. One of the key findings from a diversity review commissioned by DEFRA is that although people from diverse backgrounds valued the natural environment, they often had negative perceptions of the social environment, expecting to feel excluded and conspicuous in what they perceived to be an exclusively English place.

We are therefore thrilled to introduce a transformative initiative dedicated to enhancing access to The National Forest for underrepresented communities of women and girls. We intend to create an inclusive and welcoming environment that encourages exploration and connection with nature with monthly guided themed walks over 6 months.

Trailblazers Empowering Wellbeing Walks for South Asian Women and Girls In The National Forest

We are excited to introduce a pioneering initiative aimed at enriching the lives of women and girls in our South Asian communities and making the The National Forest accessible to under represented communities.

This initiative revolves around a series of captivating monthly themed wellbeing walks, designed to create a haven for self-care, community forging, and personal growth. As we weave together diverse themes and activities, our goal is to address the multifaceted needs of women and girls, empowering them to lead lives imbued with vitality, purpose, and fulfillment.

However, at the very core of this journey lies an even more profound aspiration – to open the majestic embrace of The National Forest to underrepresented communities of women and girls.

Project Objectives:

  • Equitable Engagement: Our foremost objective is to break down barriers that have historically limited underrepresented communities’ access to outdoor spaces. By partnering with The National Forest, we are dedicated to implementing initiatives that cater to the unique needs of these communities, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of nature.
  • Welcoming Environment: We aim to create an inclusive and welcoming environment within the forest. This environment will encourage women and girls from underrepresented backgrounds to explore, learn, and engage with nature without fear of exclusion or discomfort.
  • Education and Connection: Our collaboration seeks to offer educational opportunities that foster a deeper connection between participants and the natural world. Through guided walks, discussions, and activities, we intend to nurture an appreciation for the forest’s ecological importance and inspire a sense of stewardship.
